Curriculum Vitae

Magne Myrtveit was born in Bergen, Norway, September 2, 1957. He has studied pedagogy at Norsk Lærerakademy and received his cand. real. exam (M.Sc.) in Computer Science at the University of Bergen in 1982.

He worked at the University of Bergen and the University of Hawaii at Manoa until 1985, when he joined ACOS, a consulting company in Bergen. In 1987 he had developed his first generation simulation software. The year after, he founded SimSim (together with Lars Vavik) and ModellData (together with Vavik and Jose J. Gonzalez). SimSim and ModellData were merged into Powersim in 1996.

Myrtveit was Managing Director of these companies until 1999, and he continued as part of the management and board until 2001, when he left to create a new start-up company.

Myrtveit is now working on his PhD in the area of “multi-paradigm” technology for modeling and simulation.
