Hi All,
here a small summary of what was shown in the meeting today.
Action Points
Frank Jan 31 - project draft
All Friday, Feb.2 - per faculty: chapter outline (1-2 pages)
All Friday, Feb.2 - per faculty: objectives (bullets)
***Budget
We have a total budget of 6 MNOK for 4 years. That means each faculty
can plan for, e.g., 1 PhD student. I would like to reserve 50kNOK/year
for project management - if that is OK. Therefore: 1.8 MNOK/faculty +
4*50k project management.
***Wireless Short Range Communications & Applications
Slides 5++ illustrate how different devices (phones, games,
mediaplayers, ...) start to include short range links (WiFi) for, e.g.,
sharing, peer-2-peer applications, and internet access. Little has been
done in the area ("Ubiquitous Computing"), and a large opportunity lies
ahead of us. slide 8++ describes a reference scenario, with different
zones (local, remote) and types of links (peer-2-peer,
infrastructure-based). What we need to decide where we put our focus,
e.g., what application area.
***Proposed Proposal/Project Structure (slide 12)
we have 3000 words (10 pages) for the project description.
chapter 1: Overall Area Definition & Motivation & HiA Strategy
chapter 2: Trusted Wireless SRC & Applications - Teknologi
chapter 3: Context Awareness & Reasoning - Realfag
a mobile device will constantly shift context,
and meet new and known services.
Potentially 10th of services per minute.
We need a smarter solution than querying the user each time.
chapter 4: Innovation & Business Aspects (?) - Økonomi og Samfunnsfag
chapter 5: Academic & Industrial Network, Dissemination
Chapter titles etc are proposals. Please modify as needed.
There are still some open questions, but we can take them up at the next
meeting, e.g., project name.
